In conjunction with the exhibition TRANSformations: DALE ROBERTS/DAME MAILARTA at the Grenfell Art Gallery
the ROGUE GALLERY (in EE Gallery) presents ... January 10 – February 1, 2014 Dame Mailarta’s Portrait Studio/Workshop A gallery within a gallery, an exhibition within an exhibition: for more than seven years Newfoundland artist Dale Roberts (a.k.a. Dame Mailarta) has been collecting portraits from around the globe and adding them to his/her portrait gallery. In exchange for submitting an autographed portrait, participants receive a piece of handmade mail art, from the Dame herself. While the official portrait gallery will be located in Corner Brook, the Rogue will be setting up an installation where you can view a selection of the Dame's portraits and create your own portrait to send to the exhibition in Corner Brook. on JANUARY 16th, we will host I'LL DRAW YOU IF YOU DRAW ME an evening of community-led portrait creation at Eastern Edge 7-9pm with music, snacks and art supplies. All portraits will be sent to Dame Mailarta's Portrait Gallery in Corner Brook! Feel free to bring additional supplies, props, and backdrops! |
