Trysh Ashby-Rolls, Pender Island, British Columbia, CANADA

Thanks my friend  . .
Author, essayist, periodical writer, mentor, and writing instructor, Trysh wrote her first book (never published but still extant) at age six. Although she continued to write, it was against the wishes of her family who wanted her to train as a teacher. She won a scholarship to a performing arts school which gave out "second class" B.Ed. degrees at the end of the course, and continued writing - in secret. Eventually she turned this passion into a career, spending a decade in broadcast journalism and freelancing for magazines before writing Triumph: A Journey of Healing from Incest (1991, McGraw-Hill Ryerson). It opened the way to numerous opportunities to speak nationally and internationally on child abuse recovery, using writing as a therapeutic tool.

In 1998 Trysh earned a master's degree with distinction at the University of London, England. She is presently writing a book about parental-child abduction, continues to freelance for periodicals, and mentors and instructs non-fiction writers at all levels of experience. "Closet" and emerging writers remain her favourites however; she loves to help build their skills and self-confidence.

PUBLICATIONS:
Triumph: A Journey of Healing From Incest. Toronto: McGraw-Hill Ryerson Limited, 1991.
AWARDS:
Emily Stowe Award for Responsible Journalism, 1982.

Foxy Moron, Kingston, New Hampshire, USA

Fellow IUOMA member Foxy says . . "I love sending and receiving mail. I like the act of sharing small pieces of handmade art with people and gaining inspiration from the unlikely.

I love strange and unusual styles mixed with the post and connection to strangers in a world that is so large!"
